The Circle of Friends in the front lawn of this home holds particular meaning to the community of people with disabilities. Often when friends are chatting with each other, their chairs are brought together to form a circle with foot rests facing into the center. The Circle of Friends was designed to accommodate this sociable activity including the opportunity for friends who are ambulatory to sit perched on the retaining wall surrounding the circle. Behind the retaining wall where a select tactile and aromatic plants that serve to allow for exploration of the garden by the user. The house was built by Trademark Custom Homes and Renovations for the Vancouver Resource Society. The house has flush thresholds, smart wiring, adjustable countertops, and other measures to make it safely accessible.
